How We Help

Our Australia psychologists are fully registered professionals who can help with a variety of different problems and issues. Our team has years of experience and understand the complexity of each condition or issue. Some of the areas we can help our clients with include, but aren’t limited to:

Mary Magalotti Speaking Up for Equality

Principal psychologist, Mary Magalotti is speaking up against the discrimination shown by the Australian Government. In an interview with The AgeMary Magalotti highlighted that the questions on the Census were disrespectful towards those in the same-sex couple. Our Director, Jodie Brenton and the Life Resolutions team are proud to support Mary Magalotti and those in the LGBTQ+ community.

In the interview, Mary said that “despite having two mothers on their birth certificates it forces you to say where the father is from”. Mary, along with others in the LGBTQ+ community feel that this is not only disrespectful to LGBTQ+ couples but the children as well.

Mary continues to point out that the census is “supposed to provide crucial insights into our changing society” however, not allowing same sex-couples to accurately provide answers defeats the purpose of these questions.

Mary went on to say: “unfortunately, as a gay woman, I am used to being ignored and treated as unequal. I felt distressed for my children who weren’t represented… I felt it was biased and discriminatory.” Alongside Mary, the Life Resolutions team believe that speaking up against this discrimination is a powerful way to spark change.

The way that the Australian Government treated and recognized same-sex couples was “simply wasn’t good enough”.

Our team are passionate about providing support for everyone, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community. Lead by Mary Magalotti, our team of psychologists are experienced in working with those within the LGBTQ+ community and understand the challenges that they may face.

Mary MagalottiJodie Brenton and the Life Resolutions team believe in recognition and equality for all, no matter their background, sexuality or identity. Our team is constantly striving for higher standards when it comes to inclusivity and equality.

Here at Life Resolutions, we support the stand Mary Magalotti has taken and are inspired to continue being actively inclusive.

Anxiety and COVID: research and how to get help

Throughout 2020/21 there has been an increase in those experiencing symptoms of anxiety. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused every individual to face their own challenges, in particular those of mental wellbeing. Life Resolutions’ Director, Jodie Brenton and Principal Psychologist Mary Magalotti want to inform the public on the facts of anxiety concerning the pandemic and where you can get help.

Many studies have looked at the effect of the pandemic on people’s mental health. One study published in Globalization and Health found that approximately 32% of people were experiencing symptoms of anxiety in the UK, this is an estimated increase of 25%. Additionally, the study found that those aged between 21-40 are more likely to experience COVID-19 related anxiety.

Symptoms of Anxiety

As the prevalence of anxiety has increased since 2019, it is important to identify the symptoms of anxiety.

Some symptoms of anxiety include:

  • Constant worrying

  • Constant worry about developing and frequent checking for symptoms

  • Feeling agitated

  • Tense muscles and increased heart rate

  • Trouble concentrating or thinking about anything other than the present worry
